Post Release: Lesdrevmash’2012 International Exhibition

On 22nd - 26th October 2012, Expocentre successfully run the 14th edition of the major woodworking trade show for Russia and Eastern Europe - Lesdrevmash international exhibition - the trade show for machinery, equipment and tools for woodworking, furniture, and  pulp and paper industries.

The exhibition, organized by Expocentre and the Union of Timber Manufacturers and Exporters of Russia, was held with assistance from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers (EUMABOIS), in partnership with Centerlesexpo OAO, and under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and Moscow City Government.

The show has distinguished itself internationally which is proven by the certificates it has received from the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) and the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs (RUEF).

The EUMABOIS President Mr Franz-Joseph Buetfering came to the show with a working visit and shared his opinion of the event. 

Mr. Buetfering said: ‘European exporters have recently been showing increased interest in the Russian market. In this context the Lesdrevmash exhibition is assuming even greater importance to the EUMABOIS members.

Our exhibitors commend the show for high performance, with visitor numbers up 10% on the previous edition. But the most important factor is better quality of the visitors, most of whom are industry specialists. That enables exhibitors to run negotiations on a high professional level.’

The EUMABOIS President also noted that participation in the Lesdrevmash exhibition was essential for the Federation members as it helped maintain relations with existing partners and find new business leads.

Lesdrevmash’2012 attracted 477 firms and companies from 27 countries.

Among them were global leaders in the manufacturing of wood processing machinery, with their latest equipment, including Altendorf (Germany), Barberan (Spain), Biesse (Italy), Cehisa (Spain), Dieffenbacher (Germany), Griggio (Italy), John Deere (the USA), Homag (Germany), Haufek (the Czech Republic), Koimpex (Italy), Nestro (Germany), Pallmann (Germany), Paul Ott (Austria), SCM (Italy), Schelling (Austria), Ustunkarli (Turkey), Valon Kone (Finland), Wienig (Germany), Winterstiger (Austria) etc.

Russia was represented by 196 manufacturers who demonstrated their achievements in technical modernisation of the sector. Russian manufacturers included Avangard, Bakaut, the Borovichi Woodworking Machinery Plant, Dukon, Intervestp, KAMI, MDM-Tekhno, Negotsiant Engineering, Duna Techno and many others.

The 2012 edition of the show attracted the record number of European exhibitors, who attended the show with support from EUMABOIS. There were 191 European companies including leading manufacturers of woodworking machinery. Lesdrevmash’2012 also featured national pavilions, which were staged by respective national industry associations and ministries - VIDMA (Germany), AFEMMA (Spain), ACIMALL (Italy), Drevmash (Russia), ARVELIN OY (Finland), SYMOP (France), and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.

The floor area of the show in 2012 made up 16 782 sq. m (net).

The exhibitors put on display the latest equipment and technologies for the forest management and wood processing sectors including essential and auxiliary equipment for the primary mechanical processing of wood, pulp and paper manufacturing equipment, transportation, warehousing and packing machinery for materials and finished products, technical and other means for saving energy, reforestation, environment protection and many other products.

The show presented dedicated feature areas - Russian Regions, the Centre for Innovation and Education for the Forest Management and Wood Processing Sectors, and the Art Woodworking.

For the first time ever, Lesdrevmash’2012 featured Israel’s Forestry Service Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael, with a very informative and attractive stand. The 2012 edition of the show welcomed over 10,000 visitors, with 98% of them being industry specialists. The total visitor attendance of Lesdrevmash’2012 was 19,000. The growing professional visitor attendance figures reflect an increasing importance of the show for industry specialists.

The central event of the show was the 6th International Forest and Man Forum, held as part of the Lesdrevmash show.

It was the first time that the Forum had featured the Russian-Asian Conference on Cooperation in the Forest Management and Wood Processing Sectors. Lesdrevmash’2012 was attended by officials and business people from Indonesia, the People’s Republic of China, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

            The programme of business-related events incorporated a session of the Working Group on Cooperation between Russia and Finland in the Forestry and Wood Processing Sector.

The show also featured a conference Sawmilling in Russia: Sales Markets and Development Prospects. Sawmill Manufacturing Efficiency. The conference was attended by over 50 delegates representing Finnish, German, Latvian and Russian companies.

Lesdrevmash’2012 also incorporated conferences, working meetings, business workshops, presentations and seminars by exhibiting companies.
