Lesdrevmash 2018 welcomes visitors
Today Expocentre Fairgrounds has opened its doors to the 17th International Exhibition for Machinery, Equipment and Technology for Logging, Woodworking and Furniture Industries – Lesdrevmash 2018 and the 9th Forest and Man International Forum. The exhibition is organized by Expocentre AO and co-organized by the Union of Timber Manufacturers and Exporters of Russia. The event is supported by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, EUMABOIS – the European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers and runs under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The official partner of the Russian section is Centrlesexpo OAO.
Expocentre Director General Sergey Bednov acted as the moderator of the opening ceremony of the exhibition and the Forum and said that Lesdrevmash was a major logging and woodworking show enjoying the reputation of the most recognized industry event in Russia and Eastern Europe. He also said that in 2018 the participants in the show were 350 companies from 28 countries. China, Finland, Germany, Italy, Japan and Spain traditionally arrange their national pavilions. Two years ago Japan organized its national pavilion at Lesdrevmash for the first time. This year Japan has already acted as a Partner Country.
Lesdrevmash plays host to one of the most important events in the Russian forest sector – the 9th edition of the Forest and Man International Forum. It is organized by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Union of Timber Manufacturers and Exporters of Russia, Expocentre AO and Centrlesexpo OAO. The Forum participants will discuss the most relevant challenges of forest management and timber processing and arrive at solutions to them.
Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Natural Resources, Property and Land Relations Nikolay Nikolaev welcomed the attendees and was pleased to emphasize a large size and wide range of the trade show. "Here one can see various equipment including state-of-the-art woodworking machines and meet the latest requirements including environmental ones and that is extremely important," he pointed out.
President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergey Katyrin, in his turn, said that 130 companies out of 350 are Russian ones. According to him, Lesdrevmash always draws attention of nearly all regions of Russia since a lot of people are engaged in forest management and interested in further development of the industry. "The trade show and the forum enable us to compare our points of view with deputies' and choose legislative initiatives for joint implementation in order to develop the industry. And certainly it is very interesting to see how our foreign colleagues develop," emphasized the head of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Agriculture, Food Policy and Environmental Management of the Russian Federal Assembly Vladimir Lebedev read a welcome address to the participants and organizers of the 9th Forest and Man International Forum from Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly Valentina Matvienko. She believed that "the Forum participants will have an effective networking and discuss solutions to key challenges of the woodworking industry, come up with proposals and recommendations for improvement of the forest law."
Other participants in the opening ceremony of Lesdrevmash 2018 and the 9th Forest and Man International Forum were Deputy Head of the Federal Forestry Agency Mikhail Klinov, Director of the United Nations Information Centre in Moscow Vladimir Kuznetsov, Director of the Department of Textile Industry and Forest Sector of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade Evgeny Ryzhov, Vice President of the Japan Woodworking Machinery Association (JWMA) Atsushi Kikukawa, Deputy Chairman of the China National Forest Products Industry Association Feng Jiaping, Director of Moscow branch of ICE (Italian Institute for Foreign Trade) Pier Paolo Celeste, President of the Union of Timber Manufacturers and Exporters of Russia Miron Tatsyun.
